Joan Pauline Nichols

Joan Pauline Nichols “Grammy”, 93, long time resident of Pinkard, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022.

Joan was born in North Adams, Massachusetts to Albert and Leona Soudak on February 16, 1929. She spent her early years in Massachusetts where she married her husband, Robert (Bob) Nichols. They later moved to Jupiter, Florida. While in Jupiter, Florida they were the owners and operators of Nichols Sanitation. In 1972 Joan and Bob relocated to Pinckard, Alabama where Joan worked for Southern Peanut for some years.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Soudak and Leona Soudak, as well as her loving husband, Robert J. Nichols Sr. July 30, 1994.

Joan is survived by her 3 children Susan (Jimmie) Holbrook, Craig (Carol) Nichols, Robert (Suzanne) Nichols Jr. She also has eight grandchildren: Jennifer Joan Holbrook-Marshall, Jerry Holbrook, Lisa Stewart Nichols, Donald Kelly Jr., Melody Kelly Shaffer, MaryJane Nichols Skidmore, Robert Nichols III, and Ronnie Gates; also 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

The family has chosen to honor the wishes of Joan and not have any services.
