Joan Sexton, a resident of Dothan, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at Southeast Health. She was 72.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday prior to service time.


Mrs. Sexton was born March 11, 1950 to Willie and Lula Mae Kirkland and was a lifelong resident of Houston County. She worked at Cooking Good for several years and was of the Baptist faith.


Joan is predeceased by her parents, Willie and Lula Mae Kirkland; her husbands, James H. Williams, Sr., Tommy Ray Moore and Hayward Sexton; two sons, James Hayden Williams, Jr. and Pee Wee Williams and a grandmother, Lucy Stucky.


Survivors include three children, Patricia Garrett (Gary) of Dothan, William Lee Adams (Carol) of Dothan and Mark Williams, Sr. (Michelle) of Newville; seven grandchildren, Heather Chandler, Gary Hayden Garrett (Maggie Gilley), Felicia Marie Garrett, Robert Lee Garrett, Lisa Williams, Tommy Curtis Williams and James Mark Williams, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, Noah Garrett, Jacob Garrett, Schilo Garrett, Austin Pigget, Brodie Chandler, Jonathan Gomez, Adrian Gomez, Tayli Gilley and Voncille Williams.


Active pallbearers will be James Woodham, Earl Woodham, Michael Franklin, Ronnie Swearengen and Erik Williams.
