Joe was born August 18, 1941 in Houston County to Fletcher Marvin and Gladys Watford Phillips. Joe was retired from Reliable Services HVAC company. He has been a member of Landmark Baptist Church since 1976. He was married to the love of his life for 59 years and together they built a life they loved.

He enjoyed the simple things in life. If you knew him then you know he was an instigator….he loved to laugh and to stir the pot! And when it comes to the children, well they adored him, because if anyone said ‘NO’ to them of course Joe said ‘YES’! When it comes to fishing, he never threw a fish back unless it was the biggest one YOU caught.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Vassie Lou Brock, and two brothers, Oyette Phillips and Nimitz Phillips.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Hall Phillips of Dothan; three sons, Michael Phillips (Dawn) of Enterprise, Andy Phillips (Tammy) of Dothan, David Phillips (Gloria) of New Braunfels, Texas; two brothers, Wilburn Phillips (Syble) of New Caney, Texas, Johnny Phillips (Mary) of Alabaster; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Michael, Anthony, Andrew, Anna, Samantha, Allison, and Nicholas; ten great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Nicholas Phillips, Michael Phillips, Anthony Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Matt Howell, Chris Hall, Arryn Hall and Jessie Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Parrish Wyndell Davis and Ken Dunn.

Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements. (334) 699-3888. Please sign the guestbook online at www.gloverfuneral.com
