.Joe Henry Spears, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday January 28, 2012. He was 89.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 2 P. M.  from the chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend David Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 1:30 until 2 P. M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 South Park Avenue, Dothan AL.

 

Joe was a native of Geneva County, Alabama and graduated from Samson High School and Jacksonville School of Technology in Jacksonville, FL.

He became the first engineer at WTVY in 1955 and worked in TV for 40 years. This was his life!

Joe held a lifetime membership in the Dothan Elks Lodge and served 3 years in the U. S. Navy during WW II and several years in the naval reserve.

 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Linnie B. Spears of Dothan; his daughter, Wanda Doles and husband Dennis of Olathe, Kansas; Grandsons Jacob and Jonathan Doles
