   Joe Walker, a resident of Ozark, Alabama, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was 81.


   Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Lawyer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M at the church. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.


   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2926 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.


   Joe was born and reared in Ozark, son of the late William Lewie Walker and Evie Andrews Walker. He was a graduate of Troy University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Auburn University where he received his Master of Science in Mathematics. Upon graduation he worked for Lockheed Corporation in San Jose, California before returning back home to Ozark. He taught at several colleges in Alabama and Georgia then returned to school to study law at Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama. After receiving his Juris Doctorate, he practiced law in the Dale County area and later as an attorney for the Municipal Court for the City of Ozark. Joe was an active member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church for over fifty years. He served in many capacities in the church as a member of the church council, a lay leader, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the church choir. He loved his family and looked forward every year to reuniting with them at their annual Walker Family Reunion. Each member of his family was special and he enjoyed spending time with each of them.


   Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Reginald Marvin Walker (Rex), John Leslie Walker, William Eugene Walker (Gene), Smith McKay Walker (Smitty), Robert Emmett Walker (Bob); and sisters Mary Ruth Walker and Syble Walker Cook.


   He is survived by his brothers, George Walker (Sylvia) and Billy Walker (Kay); several special nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
