ABBEVILLE. . .Joel Gene Volf, Jr., a resident of Abbeville, died Monday afternoon, January 31, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 68.

       Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed.

       In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.H.A.R.K., P.O Box 126, Abbeville, AL 36310.

       Gene Volf was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, son of the late Joel Gene Volf, Sr. and Thelma Helton Volf. He was employed by the Henry County Board of Education as a school bus driver. In earlier years, Gene worked at WestPoint Stevens. He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Volf.

       Surviving relatives include his wife, Cindy Culpepper Volf, a daughter, Jacy Volf (Andrew Chapman); nephews, Alan Volf and Kyle Volf, two great-nieces, Caitlyn Volf and Addison Volf, a great-nephew, Braidan Volf, a sister-in-law, Cathy McNeal (Mike), a brother-in-law, Bert Culpepper, several other nieces and nephews from the Culpepper family.
