John Anthony Waddail, 64 of Elba, AL passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 unexpected at home in the arms of his loving family. Everyday of his life was dedicated to God, family, and work in that order. John talked about the Lord daily and encouraged everybody that he knew to have a personnel relationship with the Lord. He would read his Bible everyday and enjoyed reading Bible stories to his granddaughters.
John was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Becky of 39 years, and  was a selfless encourager and protector of his wife and family. He represented every value a loving spouse and father could portray. He would always go the extra mile to help his only son Andy. He was always a phone call away no matter the situation, whether it was to help cut down a tree, helping with a tractor, or putting together a trampoline, he was always there. “Poppa” was blessed with two Granddaughters who loved him dearly, with a sparkle in his eye, Poppa knew how to brighten their day.
Mr. John, as his coworkers called him, was an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. You could always expect to see a smile on his face, a kind word said, or a helping hand. He was a true friend to everyone and will truly be missed. He saw and loved the simple things in life such as drinking a hot cup of coffee, casting a line in the family pond, and spending time with his three beloved dogs. He found joy and beauty in everyday Life.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. Gilead Cemetery on Monday, February 8, 2021 beginning at 2:00 PM with his brother-in-law Mr. Mark Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

He leaves behind: Wife - Rebecca Donaldson Waddail, Son - John "Andy" (Maranda) Waddail, Jr., Granddaughters - Mary Margaret Waddail, and Caroline Cate Waddail, all of Elba, Alabama, along with a Sister - Ellen Dixon, Raleigh, NC, and a Brother - William Eiland Waddail, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mr. Waddail was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and William Eiland Waddail.
