JOHN  DANIEL  JONES





HEADLAND, AL……John Daniel (Danny) Jones, a resident of Headland, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at his home. He was 77.


           


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 9, 2012, in Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, between Headland and Columbia, with Reverend Mike Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.


           


Mr. Jones was born and reared in the Pleasant Plains Community, son of the late John Adron (Buck) Jones and Mary Lou Hodges Jones. He lived most of his lifetime in the Headland area. Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Navy. He retired, due to disability, as a meat cutter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Pat) Jones and a daughter, Ginger Shavers Gray.


           


Surviving relatives include a daughter, Daniele Littlefield and husband, Jamie, Headland; two sons, Carl Shavers and wife, Tammy, Kinsey; Blaine Shavers and wife, Kathy, Memphis, TN; a brother, Walter L. Jones and wife, Martha, Lake Eufaula; nine grandchildren.


           


Serving as active pallbearers will be Vernon Hendricks, Alton Brandy, Billy Bowman, Tracy Rabion, James Shelley and Morgan Snellgrove.
