Obituary: John Daniel Phillips

 

John Daniel Phillips of Kinsey, AL went home to be with his Lord on January 7, 2024.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia Phillips; his children, Dowl Phillips - Ozark, AL, Debra Norris - Enterprise, AL, Angie Dorsey (Jim) - Ariton, AL, and Allen Phillips - Enterprise, AL; his stepchildren, Vince Kirkland (Kelley) - Anderson , SC, Stan Kirkland (JoAnn) - Tallahassee, FL, and Lynn Favre (Bob) - Canton, GA; his grandchildren, Jeremy Phillips (Erica) - New Brockton, AL, Santana Peters - Enterprise, AL, Shelley Cammarota (Justin) - Enterprise, AL, Savanna Osei (Manny) - Enterprise, AL, Jason Phillips (Claudia) - Enterprise, AL, Micah Phillips - Ozark, AL, Parker Lewis - Warner Robbins, GA, Patrick Gholston - Ariton, AL; his step-grandchildren, Ryan Kirkland (Laura) - Greenville, SC, Matt Kirkland (Lindsay) - Fountain Inn, SC, Tyler Kirkland (Lauren) - Charleston, SC, Colin Kirkland - Clermont, FL, Kyle Kirkland (Courtney) - Tallahassee, FL, Kip Kirkland - Tallahassee, FL, Andy Favre - Athens, GA, John Favre - Canton, GA, Sarah Favre - Canton, GA, and Emily Favre - Milledgeville, GA; and great grandchildren, Dillan Peters - Enterprise, AL, Peyton Cammarota - Enterprise, AL, Norah Cammarota - Enterprise, AL, Jacy Phillips - New Brockton, AL, Kyla Phillips - New Brockton, AL, John Phillips - New Brockton, AL, Jacob Phillips, - Dothan, AL, Emileigh Phillips - Dothan, AL, Sawyer Phillips - Enterprise, AL, Natalie Phillips - NC, Madison Lewis - Ariton, AL, Wyatt Lewis - Ariton, AL, Jax Lewis - Warner Robbins, GA; step-great grand children, Finley Kirkland, Greenville, SC, Leo Kirkland - Greenville, SC, Wren Kirkland - Greenville, SC, and Hallie Kirkland - Fountain Inn, SC; and great great grandchildren, Avereigh Harden - Dothan, AL and John Harden- Dothan, AL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Minnie Phillips; and siblings, Mattie Lou Phillips Mathis (Lenson), Perry Phillips (Louise), Annie Laura Phillips Doster (Jay), Jack Phillips (Ruby Pearl), Joe Phillips (survived by Christine), Jean Phillips Chalker (Maxie), Nathan Phillips, Don Phillips (survived by Ann), and Eldon Phillips (survived by Rebecca).  John was a World War II Veteran and served in the 8th Army Air Force in the European Theater.  He was a Master Carpenter and Contractor for more than 50 years in Ozark, Montgomery, and Enterprise.  He left his mark in many buildings and homes during his lifetime.  Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm at Sorrells Funeral Home (4550 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise, AL 36330) on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Minister Joel Laseter presiding.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park (6121 AL-27, Enterprise, AL 36330).
