Johnnie Eugene Hughes, 65, of Dothan passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 1:30 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Hughes was born on August 2, 1952 in Ft. McPherson, Alabama and lived in Ozark, Alabama during his early years. He graduated from Carroll High School and received his A & P license from Ozark Aviation College. He was employed at Fort Rucker, Alabama from 1985 until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Hughes was a member of the IAMAW Union Lodge in Daleville. He served as a marine during the Vietnam War. Johnnie enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball and Alabama football, working in his garden and collecting baseball cards.

Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his father, William Eugene Hughes and his mother-in-law, Ernestine Torgerson.

Survivors include his wife, Sheree Hughes; a son, Kyle (Maghan) Hughes; a daughter, Pamela Hughes; his mother, Ruby Wells; brothers, Kenneth Hughes, Eric (Brenda) Hughes and Tommy Wells; a sister, Belinda (Jerry) Martin; his brother-in-law, Charles Torgerson; his two sisters-in-law, Laurie Walker and Cathy Torgerson; and several nieces and nephews.
