Obituary: Johnnie M. Tindell


 


Johnnie M. Tindell, MSgt, USAF (Retired) of Hartford went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 21, 2012 following a battle with cancer. He was 77.


 


     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 23, in the Hartford Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Kroll, Rev. Bruce Spivey and Rev. Moody Faulk officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.


 


The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:00 am and continuing until service time.


 


     MSgt Tindell was born February 16, 1934 in Hartford to the late Bill and Hildred Matthews Tindell. He was a member of the Hartford Baptist Church. He also owned a local television repair shop in Hartford until his retirement. He proudly served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force having served in Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and various bases in the U.S.


 


     The family asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Hartford Baptist Church or to Covenant Hospice, 207 W. Adams St, Dothan, AL 36303.


 


     Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rebecca Hundley Tindell, Hartford, his sons: Gregory Tindell (DeeAnn), Hartford, Charles Tindell (Cozette), Slocomb, Curtis Tindell (Sharon), Justin, TX, Richard Tindell (Deborah), Hartford; his grandchildren: Rebecca Haines (Brant), Tallahassee, FL, Allyson Tindell, Auburn, AL, Jordan and Aaron Tindell, Hartford, AL, Ashley and Courtney Tindell, Justin, TX, his sisters: Sandra Hall (Edward), Dianne Nicholas (Dale) all of Hartford, Al,  his brother: Bobby Tindell, Grimes, AL; and several nieces and nephews.


 


     The family would like to express a special thanks to all the doctors who cared for MSgt Tindell: Dr. Sherry Roach, Dr. Gary Allen, Dr. John Dunn, Dr. Mark Byard, Dr. Samuel Tarwater and Dr. Melanie Nichols and also to: Tracy Carter, Lindsay Rushing, Amanda Lewis and all other Covenant Hospice of Dothan nurses.
