ABBEVILLE...Johnny Cordell, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday night, July 12, 2018, in Noland Hospital Dothan. He was 66.


  Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, July 15, 2018, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner and Reverend Jonathan Cordell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.


  Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, Illinois 60611.


  Johnny Cordell was born and reared in Barbour County, near Texasville, son of the late Ruby J. Cordell and Nellie C. Gulledge Cordell. He lived in Edwin and Ft. Gaines before moving to Abbeville in 2013. Johnny was a member of the Judson Baptist Church. He was self employed as a building contractor and owner/operator of Johnny Cordell Construction Company. Johnny was preceded in death by a son, Joel Rubin Cordell; a grandson, Chayce Mattix Jones, two sisters, Winnie Mae Blankenship Rentz and Sadie Smith, four brothers, Ruben Lee Cordell, J.C. Cordell, Rufus Cordell and Woodrow Cordell.


  Surviving relatives include his wife, Susan Turner Cordell; four daughters, LaNae Allen (Mike), Dothan; Lisa Cordell, Edwin Community; Laura Tew (Micah), Midland City, and Brandi Cordell, Abbeville; a daughter-in-law, Kristee Cordell Langford, Tumbleton Community; four sons, Keith Jones, Wicksburg; Rev. Jonathan Cordell (Jerri), Ozark; Rev. Brandon Turner (Nicci), and Jason Turner (Dawn), all of Abbeville; two sisters, Christene Brown (Wayne), Edwin Community and Frances Cordell (Junior), Texasville; sisters-in-law Jossie Cordell and Willie Nell Cordell; numerous grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


  Serving as active pallbearers will be John Martin, Larry Purswell, Tommy Tew, Ronald Brown, Woody Langford, and Roy Dean Smith.
