Jonathan Scott Brown was born to Rachel Hawkins on Saturday March 12th, 1994, in Buffalo, New York. He was so full of life that he arrived early. Joyful at birth, Jonathan lit up a room with his beautiful smile and twinkling grayish brown eyes. From infancy, he was introduced to God and enjoyed hearing Bible stories and songs of praise.   

When Jonathan was 5 years old, Rachel met her husband, Brandon and together they nurtured him into the person he became. Jonathan was a beautiful and free-spirited child and having a loving family unit was important to him. He was the oldest of 6 and enjoyed being a big brother.

Growing up, Jonathan developed a love for the outdoors and had such an appreciation for all types of creation, especially exotic animals. Both of these loves stayed with him up until the day he fell asleep in death.

As a teenager, Jonathan’s true personality really began to stand out. He was extremely caring and had a loving spirit that captivated people. So much so, that even strangers were drawn to him. Jonathan’s brilliantly creative and artistic mind along with his kind heart are what intrigued them.

Jonathan acquired his education in the Wake County Public School System of North Carolina. He developed his love of the Arts in High School, where his unique creativity, talent, and artistry was set free. Jonathan spent countless hours teaching himself how to read music, play the guitar, keyboard, dance, and almost perfected his many skateboard tricks.

In High School is where Jonathan’s love of performance began. He was featured in many shows and enjoyed showing off his skills for the crowd. Jonathan had an “old soul” as the saying goes, and most of the music he played was influenced by the hippie era. You could often catch Jonathan barefoot, even while working on his parents’ farm. He longed for peace among all people and would often use symbols and drawings to express his love for it. 

Jonathan could make you laugh with just his beautiful smile. His voice brought you happiness and his music lifted you up. If Jonathan called you his friend, he considered you family. Whether you knew him as Jonathan, “Jon,” or “Cloud,” he was a uniquely extraordinary person throughout all his life. Jonathan was absolutely one of a kind and he will be greatly missed.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Darlene Hawkins, Great Grandmothers, Bobbie Jean Keys and Elsie Hawkins, and his great-great Grandmother, Albirta James. All of these women loved and knew Jonathan well.

Cherishing Jonathan’s beloved memory are his parents, Rachel and Brandon Hawkins; siblings: Brooklynn, Seqouia, Megan, Brandon, and Joshua; grandparents, John Scott and Janice James;  aunts, Shannon James and Marcia Jones (Stacey); cousins by blood who are Siblings by love, Ashley, Brandon, Krystal, Cornelius, Seanserre; Honorary Siblings, Karim, Perrelle; Niece, Hazel Rae Brown who Jonathan was able to meet just before his passing, along with many, many other family and friends who loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
