Joseph B. “J.B.” Slay of Samson, AL passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. He was 68 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Pastor Jerry Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Family Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva, AL directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

J.B. was born in DeFuniak Springs, FL on December 8, 1953 to the late Eugene and Elvie Dee Miller Slay. J.B. owned and operated Slay Equipment for many years. His knowledge of heavy equipment was unmatched. J.B. enjoyed talking on the phone with his family and friends. If you talked to J.B., you knew about his unwavering love for Christ because he loved talking about the gospel, especially 1^st Corinthians, chapter 15 verses 1-4 “the gospel of your salvation” and Ephesians 1:13. J.B. would help anyone in need and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.   

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Jason Slay; brother, Charles Slay, and one nephew, Travis Slay.

J.B. is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Martha Slay; three sons, John Slay (Sharon), Zachary Slay, and Caius Slay; three grandchildren, Johnathan, Jaxon, and Jayson Slay; Amanda Grantham, who was like a daughter to him, and Nick Glover, who was like a son to him; three brothers, Jerry Slay (Linda), David Slay (Judy), and Jimmy Slay (Reene); two sisters, Linda Carter, and Patricia Slay Yost; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends who were all like family to him.
