A Mass of Christian burial will be held in honor of Juan at 11 am on Monday, February 12, 2024, at St. Columba Catholic Church, with Fr. Thomas LaPointe officiating. A Rosary service will be held at 7 pm on Sunday evening, February 11, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel to pray and remember the life of a man who touched so many.

Juan Pedro Gonzalez Verde, known affectionately as Juan to his family and friends, passed away after an extended illness on February 7, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on January 1 of 1979 in Mexico, Juan's journey of life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit of adventure.

Juan's early years were spent in the warm embrace of his native land, before he and his family moved to San Jose, California when he was a mere boy of 11. It was there that he laid the foundations of a life of hard work and service, initially working in construction. Juan later found his calling behind the wheel as a truck driver after moving to Dothan, Alabama, where he spent the last 12 years of his life.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife, Maria Gonzalez, and their children, Adriana Garcia (married to Etzer Jimenez), Jasmin Gonzalez (married to Alex Driggers), Marisol Gonzalez, and Juan Diego Gonzalez. Juan's warmth and laughter will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Emiliano Driggers, Julian Jimenez, and Zuleima Driggers. His memory will be honored and kept alive by his parents, Pedro and Juana Gonzalez, and his siblings, Jose Gonzalez, Maria de Rocio Gonzalez, Laura Gonzalez, Sergio Gonzalez, Karina Gonzalez, and Brenda Gonzalez.

Juan's interests painted the picture of a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid soccer fan, a patient fisherman, and a lover of sunny days at the river. Always fixing things, Juan was known for his handy nature, never one to sit idle when there was work to be done or a problem to solve. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his loving heart, making him a beloved member of St. Columba Catholic Church.

Juan's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the joy that can be found in everyday moments. As Helen Keller once said, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Juan deeply loved and was deeply loved in return, and he will forever be a part of the lives he touched.

In the hearts of those who knew him, Juan will be remembered as a man who was as handy with a tool as he was with a comforting word. His adventurous spirit inspired many, and his loving nature made him a cornerstone in the lives of his family and friends. Juan Pedro Gonzalez Verde lived a life full of purpose and heart, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
