ECHO COMMUNITY…Judy German McDaniel, a resident of the Echo Community of Dale County, died early Tuesday morning, March 30, 2021, at her home. She was 75.


   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 2, 2021, in the Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Jenni Hendrix and Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 1, 2021, in the church sanctuary. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.


   Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Fund, c/o Scarlet McDaniel, 8312 E. County Road 36, Ozark, AL 36360.


   Mrs. McDaniel was born and reared in Dale County, near the Echo Community, daughter of the late Willie German and Annie Jane Marshall German. She lived in the Echo Community most of her lifetime where she owned and operated Mama Judy’s Daycare. Mrs. McDaniel served as a poll worker in Echo during elections and was active in fundraising for the Echo Fire & Rescue. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and the United Missionary Circle. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Ward “Buddy” McDaniel, a daughter, Laura Shan McDaniel, two sisters and five brothers.


   Surviving relatives include two daughters, Lesa Rogers (Blakely), Mabson Community; and Shannon Register (Blake), Echo Community; two sons, Warde McDaniel (Scarlet) and Kurt McDaniel (Ina Johnson), all of the Echo Community; three sisters, Reba Upton (Max), Slocomb; Kay Cheek, Cumming, GA; and Faye Labounty, Hartselle, AL; a sister-in-law, Jean German Gunter, Echo Community; two brothers, Gary German (Laura) and Jerry German (Stephanie), all of Ozark; five grandchildren, Candace McDaniel Smith (Kyle), Joshua Rogers (Angel), Jonathan Rogers, Dylan Register and Tyler Register; three great-grandchildren, Kylen Smith, Case Smith and Braxton Rogers; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the McDaniel Family, Kay and Michael Long, Vicky and Rodger Harrison, and Norma and Lena McDaniel; numerous nieces and nephews.


   Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Rogers, Jonathan Rogers, Dylan Register, Tyler Register, Kyle Smith and Jeremy German.
