Karen Davis Willoughby, 71 of Gordon passed away Thursday July 8, 2021, at her residence following a brief illness.


A celebration of life will be held at Watermark Church on Saturday, July 10th in Ashford at 11:00am with Reverend Todd Thorpe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30am to 11:00am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Watermark Church.


Karen was born to the late Wilbur and Lena Davis of Huntsville, AL on January 30, 1950. She was a graduate from Samford University and is where she met her love of her life, Barton Willoughby. Upon graduation, both Karen and Barton assumed responsibility of his family business, Willoughby Farms.


Karen, a faithful member of Watermark Church, was a most devoted mother and “Kiki” to her six grandchildren. As a church volunteer, she utilized her artistic abilities to teach the bible creatively to young children for many years. As an involved mother and grandmother, she taught her children and grandchildren to serve and love God and family. Karen was a staple presence at her grandchildren’s extracurricular events and a consistent source of support and encouragement. She will be remembered as a devoted, selfless, and kind-hearted woman who was a positive influence in the lives of anyone that was blessed to know her.


Karen is preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Melba Davis and her husband, Barton Willoughby.


She is survived by her children, Lydia Kirkland (Jeffrey) of Dothan and Colby Willoughby (Kelly) of Gordon, her sister and brother-in-law Joan and Larry Mercer of Mesa, Arizona, sister-in-law Anne Cruise, as well as six grandchildren, Davis, Jansen and Bennett Kirkland and Banks, Gates and Eastley Willoughby. Karen is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
