Date: A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will have a prayer service at the funeral home beginning at 5 pm on Sunday evening and will receive friends until 7 pm.

Kathryn Lee Earhart Watson, a resident of Headland, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at her residence. She was 80 years old.


A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Patrick Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will have a prayer service at the funeral home beginning at 5 pm on Sunday evening and will receive friends until 7 pm.


Kathryn was born on June 13, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and lived in the St. Louis area the early years of her life. She met and married her first husband, David Hudspeth and later married Merle Earhart in 1967. Together they moved numerous times during his military career. Kathryn was a hairdresser for several years before working with Flowers Hospital and with Home Health Care. She enjoyed playing Bingo and dancing at the VFW Club with Emma Lou Harrell and friends. Kathryn was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and DAV Ladies Auxiliary.


Kathryn was preceded in death by her first husband, David Hudspeth, her second husband, Merle Philip Earhart, by her sons, David Earhart and Mark Earhart, and by her grandson, Philip Earhart.


Survivors include her children, Diane (Larry) Hicks, Davina (Michael) Overleas, and Kevin Earhart; her grandchildren, Cyle (Anna) Hicks, Sabrina (Alex) Arnold, Kathryn Long, Michael (Shelby) Blocker, Dustin Blocker, Daniel Overleas, Nicholas Overleas, Nicholas (Samantha) Earhart, Nate Earhart, and Melissa (Brandon) Earhart-Harden; her 13 great-grandchildren; her step-son, Phil Earhart; her step-daughter, Patty Earhart; her brothers, Mark (Gladys) Ireton and Leon Ireton; her sister, Charlene (Joe) Ireton; and several nieces and nephews.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Dustin Blocker, Michael Blocker, Nicholas Overleas, Daniel Overleas, Cyle Hicks, and Alex Arnold.
