DOTHAN. . .Kenneth D. Davidson, a resident of Dothan, died Monday morning, May 4, 2020, in a Dothan hospital. He was 87.


     In consideration of community health and public safety due to the COVID-19 Virus, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Elder Clayton Nowell and Pastor Ron Baker officiating.


     Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, Dothan South Camp, P.O. Box 1051, Dothan, AL 36302 or Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.


     Mr. Davidson was born and reared in Henry County and was a graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Navy after twenty years of service with rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. In earlier years, he was employed by the North Carolina Board of Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Contractors. Mr. Davidson moved to Dothan in 1974 and was employed by the Dothan Housing Authority, retiring in 1997. He served as a football, basketball, baseball, softball official and umpire in North Carolina and in Southeast Alabama. In later years, he volunteered with Kindred Hospice as a sitter. Mr. Davidson was a member of the Old Webb Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanine Hasty Davidson, and two sons, Kenneth Shawn Davidson and Troy Lyle Davidson, his father, Lunie Macon Carpenter, and his mother, Edna Jewell Ham Carpenter.


     Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Bond Johnson Davidson; a daughter, Wini Davidson Fletcher (Ron), Webb; a daughter-in-law, Nina Davidson, Panama City, Florida; four grandchildren, Michael Fletcher, Catlin O’Hearn (Blayne), Anslee Davidson and Collin Davidson; a great-grandson, Miles O’Hearn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Johnson family. He is also survived by Betty’s children from the Johnson family, Nedra Odom (Eddie), Haston “Bubba” Johnson (Patricia), and Lana Grimes (Mickey), all of Dothan.
