OZARK… Mr. Kenneth E. Tharpe, a resident of Ozark, died Monday morning, May 20, 2019 in Dale Medical Center. He was 74.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Reverend Don Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.


            Flowers will be accepted.


            Mr. Tharpe, son of the late Charlie Jacob Tharpe and Lalar B. Mathis Tharpe, was a native of the Peniel Community near Skipperville. He was retired from the Dale County Road and Bridge Dept. and in earlier years was employed with B.F. Williams Construction Company. Mr. Tharpe was a member of Peniel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Williams, Merle Smith, and Johnie Wells; four brothers, Rex Tharpe, Bruce Tharpe, Robert Tharpe, and Wade Tharpe.


            Surviving relatives include his two sisters, Mrs. Betty Jean Walker, Clio and Mrs. Jerry Spivey, Skipperville; several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Dennis Walker, Russell Walker, Tony Spivey, Terry Spivey, Reverend Lee Windham, Bennie Turner, and Jimmy Tharpe.
