A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 10:30am at the Memphis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family has requested memories be shared in his memory at his celebration of life. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, 45 Whitney Road, Unit 2M, Mahwah, NJ, 07430.
Kenneth Ray Cherry, of Dothan, AL, passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was 86 years old.
Kenneth was born on July 28, 1936 in Houston County to the late Edward Cherry and the late Lemmie Davis Cherry. He graduated from Ashford High School in 1954 before joining the Army where he served 2 years. After his discharge, he joined the Houston County Sheriff’s Department. After his time there, he became a revenuer for the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board. Kenneth retired from the ABC Board in 1990 which allowed him to spend time with his grandchildren he loved dearly, watch Alabama Football, and garden.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Cherry; his parents, Edward and Lemmie Cherry; brothers, Johnny Mack Cherry and Jerome Cherry; sisters, Gwen Dunning and Patsy Boyette.
Kenneth is survived by his son, Brian Cherry (Sandy); a brother, Ronnie Cherry; sister in law, Sara Cherry; six grandchildren, Courtney Smith (Curtis), Caitlin Brannon (Matthew), Kari London, Graham London, Colton Cherry, and Tanner Beasley; great grandchildren, Makenna Smith, Lilly London, Carter London, and Saylor Ellis; and many special friends.
