KENNITH S. CHANCEY

HEADLAND, AL… Kennith S. Chancey a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Friday morning, January 13, 2023, at his home. He was 86.

          Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Tomlin officiating. Burial with military rite will follow in the Blackwood Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. before the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

          Mr. Chancey was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late Harzie C. Chancey and Turessa Johnson Chancey. He lived his entire life in the Headland, Alabama area, except for when he was serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  When he was in the military, he was stationed for the most part in Homestead Air Force Base, Florida. After his retirement from the military, he also retired from autobody repair. He was an avid outdoorsman where he loved hunting and fishing. He was president and owner of R&R Hunting Club. He enjoyed camping with the Wiregrass Good Sam’s Club.  He was a member of the Blackwood Church.

          Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Betty Jean Gissendanner Chancey; his daughter, Kim Chancey; his sons, Timothy F. Chancey and Chad K. Chancey (Marcetta); his step-daughter, Paula Gilley Woodham; his sisters, Margaret Newman (Frank) and Linda Chancey; his grandchildren, Chris Chancey (Leah), Ryan Chancey (Amanda), Justin Kirkman (Chelsey), Stone Woodham, Brody Woodham, Wyatt Woodham, Foster Chancey, Randi Chancey, and Marni Chancey; his five great-grandchildren; and his several nieces and nephews.
