ABBEVILLE. . .Lamar Calvin Glover, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday night, October 8, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. He was 75.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Sardis Baptist Church, c/o Brenda Roberson, 1597 County Road 133, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Lamar Glover was born and reared in the Bertha Community of Dale County. He was a graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark and also attended Wallace Community College. Lamar served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was affiliated with the Sardis Baptist Church and was a member of the Bradley-Keller American Legion Post. Lamar was formerly employed by the Champion Company in Abbeville as a Foreman and Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin M. Glover, his mother, Laverne Tharpe Beck, a half-brother, Derrell Beck and step-son, William Scott Bradford.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Jackie Linn Glover, four sons, Will Glover, Dothan; Sam Glover (Melissa), Laurel, Mississippi; Jason Bradford (Gina) and Cory Bradford (Jennifer), all of Headland; a sister, Dianne Hutto, Bertha Community; a brother, Rene Glover (Beth), Rehobeth; grandchildren, Kaitlin Glover, Alyssa Glover, Megan Hicks, Derrick Hicks (April), Shavonna Baldwin (Corey), Joshua Bradford (Emily), Caroline Kemp (Morgan), Brittany Bradford, Reece Bradford, Shelby Rorie (Rob) and Jeremy Smith; five great-grandchildren.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be the Dothan Police Department.
