NEWVILLE, AL…..Lancy Lamar Messer, a resident of County Road 56, Newville, Alabama, died Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2012, at his home. He was 57.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 13, 2012, in the Calvary Baptist Church, Abbeville, with Dr. Bob Pemberton and Reverend Gerald Ross officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL. 36310 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303.

            Lamar Messer was a lifelong resident of Henry County, near Abbeville, son of the late Durell Lancy Messer and Mattie Ruth Warren Messer. He was a 1974 graduate of Abbeville High School. Lamar was self-employed as the owner and operator of Abbeville Paint and Body Shop. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a former member of the Midway Baptist Church.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Wanda Ammons Messer, Newville; three daughters, Kristie Grammer and husband, Chris, Newville; Lacy Scott and husband, Shawn, Abbeville; Sondra Messer and fiance’, Jamie Paul, Abbeville; three grandchildren, Brayden Grammer, Samantha Scott and Warren Scott; three sisters, Ann Watford and husband, Marley, Abbeville; Carol Driggers and husband, Larry, Abbeville; Pat Smith and husband, Gary, Brentwood, TN; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Shirley Ammons, Newville; sisters-in-law, Patty Knight and husband, Bill, Abbeville; Kelly Focht and husband, Sam, Auburn; a host of friends.
