DOTHAN. . .Larry Eugene Whitten, a resident of Dothan, died early Thursday morning, January 6, 2022, in Westside Terrace. He was 67.

      Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 7, 2022, in Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery, Avon, Alabama, with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309-2132.

       Larry Whitten was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia and reared in Dothan, son of the late Curtis David Whitten, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Bowers Whitten. He was a graduate of Ashford Academy and received an Associate’s Degree from Wallace Community College. While attending high school and college, Larry was involved in sports as a baseball, basketball and football player at Dothan High and Ashford Academy and also played basketball at Wallace College.  He formerly lived in Cowarts and Montgomery but lived in Dothan most of his adult lifetime. Larry was a member of the Cowarts Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Liberty National in Dothan as an Insurance Salesman. Larry was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.

      Surviving relatives include a son, Brent Whitten, Headland; a daughter, April Nichole Lynn, Dothan; two sisters, Belinda Jeffcoat (Dwight) and Jackie Holley (Charles), all of Dothan; five grandchildren, Morgan Whitten, Paislee Whitten, T. J. Hightower, Jack Whitten and Charlie Lynn.

      The family would like to express their appreciation to Jennifer Howell, Yolanda “Peaches” McBride and Sara Griffin for the loving care and kindness shown to Larry during his illness.
