Laura Jean Mallory German, 71, of Ozark, AL, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 after a long illness.


A celebration of her life will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. S. E. Newberry, Jason Miller, and Joey Pettis officiating. Interment will follow in Cornith Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3-4 pm.


Laura was born on June 1, 1950 to Byron and Zelmodean Mallory in Dothan, Alabama. She was a 1968 graduate of Dale County High School and married Gary German March 1, 1968. Laura worked for Flowers Hospital for 28 years until she retired in 2012.


Laura is preceded in death by her father, Byron Mallory, her father and mother-in-law, Willie and Annie Jane German, her sister, Monica Mallory, and several brother and sisters-in-law.


Laura is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary German, Ozark, AL; her three children, Stephen German of Headland, Brian (Mistie) German of Ozark, and Monica German (Bobby Norris) of Midland City; her eight grandchildren, Hailey (Colby) Moates of Ozark, Kayleigh (Jeffery) Gustafson of Midland City, Alec (Katelyn) Thompson of Dallas, TX, Colby (Ellen) German of Dothan, Chase German of Ozark, Camille (Quin) Strong of Birmingham, Connor German of Headland, and Brianna German (Jordan Miller) of Ozark; her great grandchildren, Lane Gustafson, Landon Gustafson, Harper Kate Gustafson all of Midland City, Emmett Fuller of Ozark, and Bryson Moates of Ozark; her mother, Zelmodean Mallory; her three sisters, Linda (Bob) Knight of Gallatin, TN, Pam (Joey) Pettis of Tumbleton, and Andrea Tew of Headland; and several nieces and nephews.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Alec Thompson, Jeffery Gustafson, Colby German, Connor German, Quin Strong, and Jordan Miller.
