LAWRENCE JORDAN WHITE

HEADLAND, AL… Lawrence Jordan White, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly Friday night, November 26, 2021, at Flowers Hospital. He was 81.

Celebration of Life services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday December 11, 2021, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Abbeville, Alabama with Reverend James Truitt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church can be made in his honor.

Mr. White was born on May 28, 1940, in Lawrenceville, Alabama to the late Jordan White and Bonnie Bell Lawrence White. He graduated from Henry County Training School in Abbeville in 1959. Mr. White then obtained his vocational degree from college. He resided in Brooklyn, New York and worked as a Kosher Butcher for over forty years before returning home to Henry County. Cooking big meals and entertaining friends and family brought joy to his heart. He was affectionally known as “POPS” by most and “Uncle Larry” to others.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Queen Helen Jackson White and his sisters, Donna White, Lenora White, Willie Faye Benton, and Lula Mae Robinson.

Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife Wanda Williams White; sons Wayne White of Manhattan, New York, and Michael White (Anna) of Brooklyn, New York; step-son Devin Sanders; sisters, Ola Beatrice Carter, Hattie Sue Duppins and Mae Ormia Grace, all of Abbeville;  his brother, Robert White (Eunice) of Marion, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Dimitri White, Alexandre White, Lawrence White (Margaret), Preston White, Brianna White, Kevin White, and Elise White; four great grandchildren, Angela White, Lawrence White Jr Michael White, Kason White and.; his sisters-in-law, Sylvia Small of Detroit, Michigan and Settoria Shannon (Michael) of Sterling Heights, Michigan; his nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
