Lela Frances Hill Smith, of Daleville, AL, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at her home.  She was 81.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 9, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Daleville with Rev. Lee Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Dothan with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 P.M. at the church until service time.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Daleville, 44 Daleville Avenue, Daleville, AL 36322.  Lela was a faithful member of this church for years and really enjoyed being a part of her Sunday School class.

As the President of the Lovely Touch Garden Club, Lela was a driving force behind the creation of the mural and the crosses and flags to remember and honor members of our armed forces that decorate the area around Daleville City Hall on Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

For most of her working career, Lela was involved in retail clothing.  She was area manager for Factory Connection for fifteen years before she retired.

Lela is preceded in death by her husband Billy R. Smith and daughter Kathy Sue Stothers.

Survivors include her son, William Ernest “Ernie” Rollins (Kimberly), Enterprise, AL; two granddaughters, Lindsey Rollins, Enterprise, AL; Kelsey Johnson, Auburn, AL; two sisters, Betty Higgins (Thomas), Early, TX; Ethel A. Wolfe (Don), Oxford, AL; two brothers, Charles Stevens Hill, Fleming Island, FL; Jady E. Hill (Mary), Sebring, FL; Annette White (Bob) who she considered her adopted daughter.
