Lillian Driggers Nolen, having fought the good fight and finished her course, died on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Born September 12, 1929, she was raised during the Great Depression in rural Geneva County, AL, came of age during World War II, and lived her adult life in Geneva, as a devoted wife and mother, a dedicated employee of Geneva Cotton Mill, and a faithful member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church.

She leaves, for a few brief moments on this earth, three children: Bobby (Pam) Nolen, Debra (Jim) Thorington, and Randy (Lisa) Nolen; seven grandsons and one granddaughter; five great grandsons and twelve great granddaughters; and a slew of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Chester Hahs Nolen; her parents, Button and Dorinda (Yohn) Driggers; two brothers and their wives, Malcolm (Tom Edd) Driggers and Buck (Dorothy) Driggers; and three sisters and their husbands, Clyde (Homer) Justice, Mirtie (Charlie) Wooten, and Flora (Emmitt) Martin. None of her 73 first cousins, 21 of whom were double first cousins, survived her.

Visitation will be held on October 15, 2022, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am (CDST) in the chapel of Warren, Holloway, Ward Funeral Home, Geneva, AL. Services will be held in the Funeral Home chapel immediately following the visitation. Mrs. Nolen’s remains will be buried in the cemetery of Eden Baptist Church.
