Lillie Belle Kennedy, 92, of Midland City passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. James Deese officiating. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Saturday at the funeral home.


Mrs. Kennedy was born March 8, 1919 in Houston County and lived in this area most of her life. She was employed with Ansell for several years until her retirement 30 years ago. Mrs. Kennedy was of the Baptist Faith and in her spare time enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Kennedy, her sons Billy Kennedy, Randy Kennedy, and Rex Kennedy, and her daughters Kathleen Henderson and Betty Lemmons.


Survivors include her children, Shirley (Dick) Fife of Cowarts, Roger Kennedy of Midland City, Brenda (Larry) Martin of Napier Field, Jerome Kennedy of Cottonwood, and Lavonia Williams of Hartford; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Virginia Peters of Dothan; several nieces and nephews; adopted loved ones, Kat, Mary Sonya, and Peggy; her cat Fluffy also survives.


Mrs. Kennedy’s grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
