LISA GAYLE TOWNSEND

COLUMBIA, AL… Lisa Gayle Townsend, age 62 years, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2021, of natural causes. She was born October 30, 1959, in Blakely, Georgia, to Patricia Langley. She is survived by her life partner, Henzy Lee Bristow.

            Blessed with a giving heart and a welcoming spirit, Lisa was loved by so many people, and her focus on faith and family always remained at the center of her thoughts and actions. Whether she was in the kitchen pouring love into her renowned seafood dishes or pasta salad, or interacting with her grandchildren, enjoying her favorite Mexican restaurant, or admiring the beauty of the ocean, Lisa loved life and wanted to make a difference by helping others to feel the same way.

            In addition to her partner, Lisa is survived by her sisters Wanda (husband Tim) Lewis, Donna McLain, Connie (husband William) Hauss, and Laura (husband Keith) Nall; her son, Travis (wife Keshia) Townsend; daughter, Demetria Townsend; her grandchildren Antonio, Amauri, Alicia, Kingston, and Karsen; and her many nephews and nieces—all of whom she loved deeply and who are deeply saddened by her loss.

            The way she lived her life can be described by the following bible verses:

§ Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”

§ Matthew 7:12 – “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you...”

           Because of her selfless focus on others, her compassionate heart, and her outsize family presence, we will never forget how Lisa made everyone around her feel and we will cherish her memory and carry it with us.

Lisa, Momma, Granny, as you always told us at the end of each and every conversation, let us now tell you...
