Lisa Margaret Thayer Smith of Cowarts passed away January 8, 2023 after a two year battle with ALS.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Greystone United Methodist Church 4401 Fortner St. Dothan, Al. Visitation will immediately follow in place of a graveside service.

Lisa was born June 13, 1956 in the city of Baton Rouge, La to the late William and Colleen Thayer. Lisa was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School  LSU and received her Master’s degree of Psychology from USL. She helped many families working as a Counselor for 38 years  until her retirement from The Exchange Center in December 2020.

Lisa married the love of her life Bill Smith on July 9, 1988 and they resided in Cowarts, Al for 34 years.

Lisa leaves behind her husband of 34 years, Bill Smith of Cowarts, Al, a brother Carl Thayer from Laramie, Wy, a brother Eric Thayer and a sister-in-law Kate Edmunds from Santa Cruz Ca, and a brother Evan Thayer from Demopolis, Al, a sister-in-law Sarah Fowler of Cowarts, Al, a sister and brother-in-law Sherry and Bill Sowell of Webb, Al, a son and daughter-in-law David and Kelli McKnight and 4 grandsons, Gage, Linkin, Grymm and Kaulder McKnight from Headland, Al, nephews and wives: Jerad and Deanna Sowell of Dothan, Al, Jansen and Sladen Sowell of Ashford, Al and many great nieces and nephews.
