Louis Trusty, Jr., 74, of Dothan, passed away with his family at his bedside at Flowers Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.


Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Sunday April 22, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Hood and Rev. Tom Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 pm Saturday at the funeral home.


Mr. Trusty was born January 21, 1938 in Greenville, Ms. and later moved with his family to Jackson County, Florida. He graduated from Marianna High School in 1958 and soon enlisted in the U.S Air Force. On October 6, 1963 he married Jean Turner of Ashford. After concluding his military service went to work at Ft. Rucker where he was employed for over 39 years until his retirement. He was a member of the IAM Lodge 2003 in Daleville.


Mr. Trusty enjoyed spending time at the lake, anything outdoors, and his grandchildren and great grandchild.


Mr. Trusty is preceded in death by his parents, Louis B. and Minnie Mae Trusty of Bascom, FL; sisters, Ruth Foley of Marianna and Mildred Duane of Detroit, Michigan.


He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Trusty of Dothan; sons, Louis Trusty, III of Dothan and Wendell Trusty of Cottonwood; brothers and sisters, Draty Blackmon of Marianna, Pauline (Rex) Golden of Crestview, FL, S.A. Trusty of Marianna, FL, Patricia (Charles) Bronson of Fayetteville, NC, and Wayne (Jenda) Trusty of Chorpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Kaylee Trusty Curry, Cody Trusty, Kinley Trusty and Dakota Dixon; a great-grandchild, Sydney Curry; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Jimmy Fussell, Brandon Harpe, Billy Harrison, Bob Paulk, Mike Paulk, David Peters, and Joey Watkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be his coworkers from Ft. Rucker.


The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to his physicians, the staff of Flowers Hospital, especially the nursing staff of the 6th floor.
