LOYCE  STRICKLAND  SAVELLE



HEADLAND…Loyce Strickland Savelle, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday morning, March 19, 2019, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 90.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, March 21, 2019, in the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Chestnut and Pastor Darrell Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5373 E. County Road 22, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mrs. Loyce Savelle was born and reared in Hartford, daughter of the late George Strickland and Votie Lee Owens Strickland. She formerly lived in Slocomb and the Hebron Community of Henry County before moving to the Pleasant Plains Community in 2010. She was a member of the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. Mrs. Savelle was retired from the Headland Elementary School in the lunchroom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Kermit Savelle, three brothers, Eston Strickland, Rex Strickland and Lex Strickland, and a step-brother, Zay Ward.


            Surviving relatives include her daughter, Brenda Collins Hodges (Larry Joe), Headland; a sister, Marynell Farmer, Hartford; five half-brothers and two half-sisters; two grandchildren, Ronda Hodges Nowell (Austin) and Kristie Hodges May (Chad); four great grandchildren, Dustin and Clayton Stacey, and Kara and Austin May; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Paula Farmer Alley.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Alley, Austin Nowell, Chad May, Dustin Stacey, Clayton Stacey and Austin May.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of hall four of the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility, the fifth floor of Flowers Hospital and Kindred Hospice for their loving care and kindness.
