ABBEVILLE. . .Loyd Thomas Bailey, a resident of Abbeville, died early Friday morning, July 15, 2022, at his home. He was 83.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 17, 2022, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303.

Loyd Thomas Bailey was a lifelong resident of the Screamer Community of Henry County, son of the late Reuben Lee Bailey and Addie Wilson Bailey. He was a member of the Judson Baptist Church. Loyd Thomas was retired from the A. W. Herndon Oil Company as a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lottie Huntsman.

Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-five years, Betty Bailey; two daughters, Beth Hatcher (Kent), and Cindy Bailey, a son, Bobby Bailey (Renee), all of Abbeville; a brother, Mertice Bailey (Robin Parson), Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Jody Bailey (Laney), Josh Bailey, Jonathan Laney (Dalie), Jacob Laney, Brian Hatcher (Hannah), Jessica Crozier (Zack), and T. J. East (Nicole), fifteen great-grandchildren including Gabrielle Bailey who Loyd Thomas and Betty raised.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Russell Bailey, Kenny Bailey, Jeff Sowell, Jackie Smith, Brian Hatcher and T. J. East.
