LTC Paul E. Jackson (United States Army, Retired) of Dothan, AL passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the age of 87.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Holland (Danny) of Enterprise, AL; three grandchildren:  Emily Karnes, Kyle Karnes and Cheyenne Tampary; great-granddaughter, Jetson Karnes Cortinas and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise, AL.  The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Paul was born January 30, 1932 in Elevenpoint, AR to the late Mont and Audrey Jackson.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Shawn Young.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bird watching; and spent his later years in life making flies for other fishermen.

He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  By the time he retired as a LTC in 1975, he had completed over six years of overseas duties, including tours in Vietnam, Germany and Korea.  After retiring from the military, he flew as a helicopter instructor pilot at Fort Rucker, AL for 10 years during which time he acquired an MBA from Troy State University.    During his career he received numerous awards and decorations, including two Bronze Star Medals, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.  For gallantry in combat he was also awarded the Silver Star.
