Bill Tucker of Enterprise, AL passed away, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his home.  He was 61.


 


            Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob West officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.


 


         Mr. Tucker joined the Army in 1972 and retired as a lieutenant colonel with 28 years of service in 2000. His unique Army aviation experience included commander of an AH-64A Technical Assistance Field Team in Egypt, commander of an AH-64 battalion in the 82d Airborne during Desert Storm, and commander of assault, attack, and general support units.  A master aviator in both fixed-and rotary-wing aircraft, he also was a master parachutist. During his distinguished Army career, he was awarded Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal and numerous other medals.. Retired Lt. Col. Tucker was a graduate of the U.S Army War College and the Command and General Officer Staff College.


 


      Following his retirement from the military in 2000, Mr. Tucker was the site manager for SEAVIN Company in Egypt for two years. He managed the largest American remote installation supporting the Egyptian Air Force F-16 and CH-47D Foreign Military Sales program.


 


      Mr. Tucker joined Navigator Development Group Inc. in 2002 as a senior aviation analyst working Army Aviation Concepts and Requirements, and in 2010 was named vice president of Fort Rucker Operations. He had 40 years of professional experience in the Department of Defense, concepts and requirements determination processes, security assistance, foreign military sales, installation management, safety, accident investigation, U.S. Army aviation maintenance, training, operations, and logistics. 


 


            Survivors include his wife, Lynda Tucker, Enterprise, AL; three sons, Will Tucker, Enterprise; Phillip Tucker, Roanoke, AL; Jason (Robyn) Enterprise; six grandchildren; two sisters, Billie Raye Phillips (Gail) West Palm Beach, FL; Penny Hoagland (Carl) The Villages, FL; a number of nieces and nephews.
