Mr. Luther Kenneth Benton of Opp, AL passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his home.  He was 84.

 The family will receive friends at the Benton home on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 5pm to 7 pm. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Foundation at www.shwachman-diamond.org.

Mr. Benton was born in Midland City, AL on April 17, 1938 to the late Luther Corbitt and Georgia Beatrice York Benton.

 He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Fay Holloway Benton; children, Patti Blount (Bill), Penni Grissett (Tim), Polly Hall (Ronald), Scott Marler (Tonya), Leigh Marler Colvin; grandchildren, Jeremy Hartzog (Misty), Stephen Hartzog, Courtney Grissett Pierce, Ethan Grissett (Britany), Sam Thomas Grissett, Lydia Grissett, Alana Hall Holland (Brandon), Brady Hall (Karen), Emili Marler Fowler (Matthew), Jerad Marler, Madison Colvin Lumpkin (Steven); numerous great-grandchildren and one sister, Emily Benton (Sonja).
