Lynda Gayle (Joiner) Adams, 76, a resident of Dothan, passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Southeast Health.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at First United Methodist Church with Bishop Lawson Bryan and Dr. David R. Saliba officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:45 until 12:45 p.m., in the church parlor before the service. Graveside services at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Pinelawn Garden Cemetery in Columbiana, Alabama with Glover Funeral Home directing.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Children’s Hospital of Alabama, 1513 4th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233, or First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.


Lynda was born May 21, 1947, in Columbiana to the late Malcom Eldred & Lou Jean (Davis) Joiner. She was a vibrant and active member of her community, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Lynda was a graduate of Columbiana High School, where she was known for her talent as a high school majorette. After graduating in the class of 1965, Lynda began her journey into the working world, starting at Stonewall Insurance. However, it was her passion for caring for others that led her to the First United Methodist Church, where she provided childcare for eight years. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to children touched the lives of many. Following her time at the nursery, Lynda dedicated 17 years as an Administrative Assistant at First United Methodist Church. Her commitment to her work was evident to all who knew her, and she brought a sense of organization and compassion to her role. Lynda’s warm smile and willingness to help made her an integral part of the church community.


Outside of her professional life, Lynda was an active member of various organizations and community groups. She was involved in the Dothan Garden Club, and she was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church Sunshine Club and the United Methodist Women. Her faith was an essential part of her life, and she found comfort in serving others through her church community. Lynda was a woman of many talents and interests, she had a keen eye for design and a natural talent for decorating. Her passion for creating beautiful and harmonious spaces was evident in her own home, which she lovingly adorned. Lynda’s creativity extended to her skill as a seamstress. One of Lynda’s most cherished roles was that of cooking for others. Her culinary skills were second to none, and she delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Lynda will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.


She is preceded in death by her parents.


She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wyndal Adams of Dothan; a son, Gavin Adams (Meredith) of Wetumpka; a daughter, Lori Christen Adams of Birmingham; a grandchild, Tyler Adams of Wetumpka; a brother, Kenneth Joiner (Dianne) of Anniston; and several nieces and nephews.


Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Walker Epps Progressors Sunday School class.
