Magalene “Maggie” Stephens


Magalene “Maggie” Stephens, age 76 of Dothan, passed away late Friday evening, November 27, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of Kindred Hospice.


Funeral services for Maggie will be held at 11am Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in the Family First chapel with Reverend Billy Fortune, Scott Quattlebaum and Brian Presley officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time, beginning at 10am Tuesday at the funeral home. At all other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Starla and Donnie Wells, 540 Allen Wells Road, Dothan, as well as 118 Woodcreek Drive, Dothan. Common sense social distancing shall be recognized during the visitation and funeral.


Maggie was born September 30, 1944 in Henry County to the late Dewey and Gracie Clark Lee and lived her entire life in the Wiregrass area. She was a floral designer for many years and enjoyed drawing and painting. Above all else, Maggie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she was also active in her Sunday School class.


In addition to her parents, Maggie was also preceded in death by her son, Sammy Peacock; a brother, David Lee and two sisters, Shirley Ammons, and Dorothy Sawyer. She is survived by a son, Scotty Peacock of Dothan; a daughter and son-in-law, Starla and Donnie Wells of Dothan; two sisters, Loraine Quattlebaum of Hartford and Cathrine (Bud) Newton of Dothan; a brother-in-law, Roger Ammons of Newville. Maggie is also survived by four grandchildren, Addie Grace Wells, Anslee Wells, Noah Peacock and Justin (Kayla) Reeder; three great grandchildren, Carly Reeder, Emmett Reeder, and Leighton Reeder, as well as 14 nieces.
