Margaret Sellers Hudspeth, age 87, a resident of Westside Terrace in Dothan, and formerly of Geneva, Alabama peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 after an extended illness.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 in the Liberty Methodist Church off Hwy 95, North of Abbeville, Alabama with Rev. Rob Oates and Rev. Steve Nolin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.


Mrs. Hudspeth was born on March 26, 1936 in Henry County, Alabama, to the late Ralph Sellers and Gertrude Parmer Sellers. Her legacy is one of love, devotion and service. She was a devout Christian, a dedicated military wife, and a loving, nurturing mother and grandmother. She followed her husband faithfully in his military service and retired in Geneva, Alabama where she worked for DixieLand Foods until her retirement. She was a member of the FBC of Geneva for45 years and served her church family in many ways including teaching children, mentoring young women, and comforting and caring for the elderly. Upon moving to Dothan, she joined the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Chapel Class. She was an active member and former president of the Geneva Woman’s Club where she was recognized as Woman of the Year. Mrs. Hudspeth was also a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Star.


She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Luther Shell Hudspeth, brother, Johnny Martin Sellers, son-in-law, Kenneth Lowe and daughter-in-law, Starlene Hudspeth.


Survivors include two daughters: Diwana Hudspeth Lowe, Marilyn Hudspeth Shehee; one son, Michael Hudspeth; five grandchildren: Traci Hudspeth Horrach, Lindsay Shehee Fretts (Travis), Charlsie Shehee Mobley (Page), Rachael Lowe Edwards (Brandon) and Matthew Lowe (Erin); seven great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Sellers Bodiford (Jim).


Her radiant smile and sweet, kind spirit will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
