Margaret Slaughter Mixon of Westville, FL passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 at her home. She was 73.  

 A Celebration of life will held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 26, 2022 in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Paul officiating and Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church for viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 1985 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Westville, FL 32464, Shoe Box Ministry.

 Margaret was born in Holmes County, FL on February 3, 1949, to the late Alcus Earl and Myrtle Earnestine Harrison Slaughter. Margaret was loved by many because she loved many. She enjoyed being a wife and mother to her children, plus being with her family and friends. Her favorite pastime included reading, gel pen coloring, and Christmas shoe boxes.   

 In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her preceded husband James J. Mixon, sister, Marie Harrell and brother, Ralph Slaughter.

 She is survived by three daughters: Diane Mixon Barnett of Valparaiso, Joyce Mixon (Randy) Kersey of Westville, Brenda Mixon Miller of Westville; grandchildren: Joshua Mixon Kersey, Westville, Faith Lynn Kersey, Bonifay, James Steven Miller, DeFuniak Springs, Seth Eugene Miller and Brandon Jedidiah Miller of Westville; great-grandchildren, James Edward Thompson and Allie Pearl Kersey, both of Bonifay; brother, Bill Slaughter, Westville; one sister, Flossie Holmes, Lynn Haven; two she loved like sons, Holit Barnett, Niceville and Steven Miller of Westville.
