Marie Smith of Samson passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018.  She was 93.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Gary Winstead, officiating.  Burial will follow at Marvin Chapel Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

 

Mrs. Smith was born in Geneva County, AL on July 7, 1925, to the late Arthur Thorn and Effie White.  Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Smith; three brothers, Robert Miller, Charles Miller, and Ernest Miller; two sisters, Vernell Dozier and Wavelene Clopton; and a granddaughter, Cathy Marie Smith.

 

She is survived by four sons, Charles Hilson Smith (Donie) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Trammel Smith (Margaret) of Ranier, WA, William Smith (Vickie) of Samson, and Terry Smith (Cindy) of Kinston; two daughters, Bettie Windham (Doyce) of Samson and Barbara Croxton (Ron) of Newport, TN; two brothers, Gary Miller of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Henry Miller of DeFuniak Springs, FL; sister, Ethelene Alford (Garland) of Lake Seminole, GA; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
