Marietta Brown Melton, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Hartford, AL on Sunday, July 1, 2018. She loved her family, her flowers, and her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. Brown and Eunice Aycock Brown of Chancellor, AL; and her husband Cebron Douglas Melton of Montgomery, AL.

She is survived by two sons, Albert R. Barnes (Pam) of LaGrange, GA, and Lt. Col. James R. “Bob” Barnes (Kris) of Radford, VA; two daughters, Cheryl Barnes Williamson (Tim) of Hartford, AL, and Gloria Jean Barnes of Hartford, AL; four grandsons, Jeffery Wells Draughon of Alexandria, VA, Chadwick Barnes of LaGrange, GA, Alex Barnes of LaGrange, GA, and Brayden Barnes of Radford, VA; one granddaughter, Abigail Barnes of Radford, VA; one sister, Bobbie Brown Jackson of Melbourne, FL; one brother, Lamar Brown of Columbia, AL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with her son-in-law, Tim Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
