Obituary: Marilyn Johnson Ruppel


 


Marilyn Johnson Ruppel of Hartford passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at UAB hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the age of 56.


 


Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Sorrells Funeral Home chapel in Slocomb with Rev. James “Red” Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory cemetery.


 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 until 8:00 pm.


 


Marilyn was born February 4, 1955 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Clifton Johnson and Shirley Young. Until her recent illness, she was employed as a correction officer with the Geneva County Sheriff Department.


 


Her husband, John Ruppel, two sisters: Wanda Bishop and Judy Jackson, as well as one brother, Buddy Johnson all preceded her in death. 


 


Survivors include four daughters: Julie Donald, Skipperville AL, Shannon Stephens and Casey Riley both of Hartford AL, Kelly Bennett (Dustin), Enterprise AL; two step children: Michelle Woods (David) and Johnny Ruppel all of Midland City, AL;  two  sisters: Carolyn Culliver, Wicksburg AL and Sheila Young, Dunnellon FL; two brothers: Dean Young (Kristine), Macon GA and Corey Johnson, Phoenix Arizona; five  grandchildren: Taylor and Dusty Beckham, MacKenzie Stephens, Dakota Bennett and Presley Blu Riley; and  several nieces and nephews.
