Marion Grant Hall, a lifetime resident of Dothan, left this life on Friday, July 29th at Wesley Place. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Wednesday August 3, 2022. There will be a visitation in the Parlor from 9:00-10:15 AM and Funeral Service at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary with David Saliba officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery for the family with Father Randy Sellers officiating.


Mrs. Hall was born Sept. 29, 1942 in Dothan. She and her twin sister were the only children of Adam & Eleanor Grant. She was a descendent of early pioneer families of our area, the Box, Balkum and Grant families of Henry, Barbour and Houston counties.  Mrs. Hall attended Dothan schools until she went to attend Brenau Academy in Gainesville, Georgia in 1960. She then attended Brenau College where she served as a member of the Honor Court. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She graduated in 1964. She returned to Dothan to marry her neighbor Jim Hall.


She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class and served on the Flower Guild, Altar Guild, and Acolyte Training and for many years on the Building and Grounds Committee. She was a member of the Garden Study Club since 1968, Landmark Park, and Wiregrass Museum of Art. She served on the Dothan Beautification Board and was on the founding Board of the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens where she served for many years as Secretary of the Board. She was a long-time member of the Dothan Camellia Society and won many awards for the beautiful blooms she grew in her yard on Choctaw Street. She was a member of the Dothan Country Club where her grandfathers, Mr. J.G. Owens and Mr. A.G. Grant were founding members.


She was predeceased by her parents Adam G. and Eleanor Owens Grant and her infant twin sister Gary Grant who died shortly after birth.


She is survived by her husband of 58 years James P. Hall, Sr., her children Adam Grant Hall, (Melissa), of Newton, Harry Preston Hall II (Jenna) of Dothan,  James Philip Hall Jr. of Dothan and Catherine Hall Kirpalani (Bob) of Birmingham. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Ashley Logan (William), Lauren Hall, Courtney Hall, Mary Grant Hall, Preston Hall, Mitchell Barbaree and Grayson Barbaree as well as three great grandchildren: Jack Logan, Elizabeth Logan and Anna Logan.


Active pallbearers will be: Adam Hall, Harry Hall, Philip Hall, Preston Hall, Mitchell Barbaree, Grayson Barbaree, Bob Kirpalani, and Bruce Hall.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the FUMC Garden Fund, Dothan Area Botanical Gardens Camellia Garden Fund or the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.
