ABBEVILLE…Marion Martin Spann, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday evening, March 24, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. She was 87.

   Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 29, 2021, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville, with Reverend Eddie W. Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 28, 2021, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed.

   Mrs. Spann was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late Charlie Martin and Illey Weems Martin. She was a lifelong resident of Abbeville where she retired from WestPoint Stevens. Mrs. Spann was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Allen Spann, Sr., and three brothers, Charlie Martin, Robert Martin and Willie F. “Bill” Martin.

   Surviving relatives include five daughters, Barbara Jones, Dothan; Brenda Kincey (Walter), Dothan; Annie Margaret Spann, Helena, AL; Shirley Chitty, Dothan; and Bertha Mae Spann, Abbeville; three sons, Willie Allen Spann, Jr. (Gwendolyn), Douglasville, GA; Albert White (Vanessa), Dothan; and James Mills (Pamela), Newville; three sisters, Ernestine Martin, Janice Spann (Willie C.) and Annie Merle Price (Kenneth), all of Fremont, OH; two brothers, James Martin (Stephanie) and Jerome Martin, both of Fremont, OH; six sisters-in-law, Mamie Dell Martin, Fremont, OH; Audrey Martin, Cocoa, FL; Hallie Mae Spann Stevens, Nellie Spann, Essie Spann and Vunnie Mae Spann; thirteen grandchildren, Bobby Fluellen, Jr., Tyrone Fluellen, Eric Fluellen, LaTonya Neal, Maurice Fluellen, Chris Fluellen, Andre Martin, Tenisha Dawson, Desmond Spann, B.J. Chitty, Dr. Ashley (Spann) Wiggins, Andria Tolbert and Jennifer Mills; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

   Serving as active pallbearers will be B.J. Chitty, Maurice Fluellen, Bobby Fluellen, Desmond Spann, KeHandre Martin and Gregory Dawson.
