Marjorie Moore Watson of Enterprise, passed away Monday morning, July 11, 2022, in a local hospital following a brief illness. She was 92.

Funeral will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Enterprise with the Dr. Ben Bowden and the Rev. Steve Watson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to service time, beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Enterprise Missions or New Brockton First Baptist Church Missions.

Margie, as she was known by her friends and family, was the life of the party and fun and laughter followed her in the door. She carried that kindred spirit to the very end. For 20 years, she filled the halls of Enterprise High School with laughter and compassion as the school’s main office secretary. Everywhere she went following her retirement in 1991 she ran into some of “my children”. It was always evident of the mutual love, respect, and memories each one had for her as they shared a few minutes to reminisce.

She was in the banking business for a number of years prior to working at the high school.  In those younger days, her laughter and joy for living was evident. She and her husband, Hob Watson, hosted countless friends in their home - often on Sunday nights after church - to gather around the piano and sing hymns and have a fun night with the many who came. Their house was filled with people and song - and, of course, laughter.

Margie taught adult Sunday School for many, many years at First Baptist Church in Enterprise. She loved her Lord and Savior and served Him faithfully with her teaching as well as singing in the choir. She truly missed her church family in the last couple of years when she became unable to attend.

She was a wonderful parent. She and Hob made sure their children said “ma’am” and “sir”, kept their elbows off the table, and were in church, among so many other parental obligations they unfailingly filled. Challenges of the latter years were met with so much more laughter within the smaller family gatherings, to include the last Christmas meal she hosted. Despite the fact she cooked nothing and everyone pitched in at the last minute to find a plate of food, it was perhaps the best Christmas lunch ever! The main course was, well - tons of laughter!

Hob passed away in 2016. Margie mourned his loss, but lived on with his memory. She stayed at home until she needed help with daily life. She moved to assisted living a year ago and adapted quickly to her first change of address since 1950. She quickly became a vital part of the facility, helping in its “operation” and tending to the others living there. She played the piano, sang, and immediately brought something so sorely needed by her new neighbors - laughter. The other residents soon grew to love her and lost a great friend when she left for the hospital on June 18th.

At the hospital, for a few days she did her best to talk and laughed when words didn’t come out. Upon request as she was losing her ability to communicate, she flashed the biggest smile she could muster. Everybody laughed.

July 11, 1950, Hobson and Marjorie Watson were united in a marriage that should be a blueprint for all marriages. On July 11, 2022, they were reunited on their 72nd anniversary in the place where marriage was created and in the presence of their Creator. What a powerful gift God gave Hob and Margie with their reunion beside the river of life. The Bible teaches there are no tears in Heaven, but Margie has surely shown them there’s plenty of laughter!

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Hobson Watson Jr.; her parents, Obe and Julia (Ramsey) Moore; her three sisters, Agnes (Lawrence) Herring; Kathleen (John) Stewart; and Doris (Rex) Childs; her two brothers, Fred (Sarah) Moore; and J.P. “Shang” (Eula) Moore.

She is survived by her children: Greg (Lynne) Watson of Enterprise; Gary (Mary) Watson of Enterprise; Gina Watson Reynolds of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren Olivia and Cooper Reynolds of Lakeland, FL; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
