Mrs. Martha Ann Yates McCormick, 72, of Geneva, Alabama entered the gates of Heaven on April 26, 2022 from Wiregrass Hospital in Geneva.

Funeral services be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with Rev. Danny Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Martha was born November 1, 1949 to in Walton County, Florida. She was raised     in Darlington, Florida and was a member of the girls’ basketball team. In 1968 she married Thermon McCormick and together they shared 38 years working, raising their children, and serving God. Martha loved working in her yards, watching Fox News, playing frogger on her PlayStation, drinking a cold Coca-Cola, and playing with her dog, Murphy.

Martha was preceded in death by her very handsome husband, Thermon McCormick. Also preceding her was her mother, Gertrude Yates, her father, John Yates; two brothers, Wade Yates, and Howard Yates; stepson, Rocky McCormick.

Survivors include daughters, Sherry McCormick, and Charlotte Pridgen (Shane); son, John McCormick (Jennifer); stepdaughters, Teresa Giles (Billy), and Tracy McCormick; grandchildren, Jake Ellenburg (Jessica), Jerry McCormick, Allison Onuschak and Amy Walcheske, Jordan Pridgen (Selina), Brittany Bedsole, Allyson Pridgen, Sidney Kelley (Christian), Ashley Dow, and Sarah Wynn; 3 brothers:  Raymond Yates, Randall Yates (Edna) and Johnny Yates, and one sister: Sue McCormick, her beloved dog and best friend, Murphy.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Fleming Brooks and staff, Wiregrass Hospital, Wiregrass Rehabilitation and a special thanks to Dr. John Simmons, Jr for making our mother feel like the only patient he has ever had.
