EUFAULA. . .Mary Belle Herring Tharpe, a resident of Eufaula, died early Wednesday morning, July 11, 2018, in the Crowne Health Care of Eufaula. She was 92.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 14, 2018, in the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery, near Skipperville, with Reverend Clyde Hancock, Jr. officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
Mrs. Tharpe was born and reared in Barbour County, daughter of the late Andrew Herring and Anna Joiner Herring. She formerly lived in Albany, Georgia and Lynn Haven, Florida before moving to the Pleasant Hill Community, near Eufaula, in 1984. Mrs. Tharpe was formerly employed in the lunchroom at the Lynn Haven Elementary School. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a former member of the Raleigh White Baptist Church in Albany, GA. Mrs. Tharpe was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Tharpe, two sisters, Ella Mae and Earlene, and three brothers, Therman, Roscoe and James Herring.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Jim Tharpe (Jennifer), Decatur, GA; and Barnie B. Tharpe (Jan), Conyers, GA; two grandchildren, Andrew Tharpe and Craig Williamson.
